Gabby Wilson (March 14)
Big Ten Specialist of the Week -- Junior Gabby Wilson was named the Big Ten Specialist of the Week for the second time this season on Monday (March 14) and she shares the honor with Mya Hooten of Minnesota. Wilson earned her second career perfect 10 on the floor and is tied for No. 1 nationally on the floor in week 10 of the season. The Ypsilanti, Mich. native also placed second on the vault against No. 5 Auburn and West Virginia last weekend (March 12) and competed on the beam. Natalie Wojcik (March 8)
Big Ten Gymnast of the Week -- Senior Natalie Wojcik was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the third time in the 2022 season on March 8, and she shares the honor with Ona Loper of Minnesota and Skyla Schulte of Michigan State. Wojcik earned her 21st career all-around title at No. 2 Oklahoma, scoring a 39.725. The Douglasville, Pa., native led Michigan on the bars and beam with a 9.950 and 9.925, respectively. In week nine of the season, Wojcik ranks No. 4 on the uneven bars, No. 9 on vault and beam and No. 14 in the all-around. Sierra Brooks (March 1)
Big Ten Gymnast of the Week -- Junior all-arounder Sierra Brooks was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the week for the second time this season after winning the all-around title at Nebraska in week eight. Brooks recorded her first career 10.0 on the vault, while also earning a 9.975 on the floor to take home three total titles. In week eight, Brooks ranks second on the vault and floor, while coming in at No. 3 in the all-around. Gabby Wilson (Feb. 22)
Big Ten Specialist of the Week -- Junior Gabby Wilson earned Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors in week seven of the season as Michigan has had at least one gymnast honored in every week. Wilson notched two event titles this past weekend at the Big Five Meet, starting off the event with a 9.975 on the floor. Following her performance on the floor, Wilson scored a matching 9.975 on the vault to tie for the event title with teammate Reyna Guggino. This marks the second Big Ten Specialist of the Week honor for Wilson as she also grabbed the honor in the 2020 season. » Big Ten Release
Jacey Vore (Feb. 15)
Big Ten Specialist/Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Freshman Jacey Vore notched Big Ten honors for the second straight week as she was named both the co-Big Ten Specialist and co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Vore made her collegiate debut on the balance beam against Penn State, recording a 9.925 and the event title. The Fishers, Ind., native also anchored the uneven bars lineup and earned her third score of 9.900 or better with a 9.900 to place third overall. Currently, with one appearance on beam, Vore ranks fourth nationally. Natalie Wojcik, Reyna Guggino, Jacey Vore (Feb. 8)
Big Ten Gymnast of the Week -- Senior Natalie Wojcik tied a Michigan record 39.825 in the all-around at the Rutgers Tri Meet last Friday(Feb. 4). Wojcik recorded her fourth career perfect 10.0 and her third on vault in the road meet, while also winning the all-around, uneven bars, beam and vault titles. The Douglasville, Pa., native scored a 9.925 or higher on all four events with a 9.950 on both beam and floor and a 9.925 on the uneven bars. In week five, Wojcik ranks third on the uneven bars, fourth on in the all-around and on the vault, and fifth on the balance beam. Big Ten Specialist of the Week -- Sophomore Reyna Guggino notched her first career perfect 10.0 on the vault at Rutgers. She became just the second gymnast in NCAA history to lead off a rotation with a perfect score, the first coming in the 2020 season. With her 10, the Tampa, Fla., native earned a share of her first career title on the vault, while placing seventh on beam and ninth on floor. Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Entering the lineup for just the third time in her career, Jacey Vore scored a career-high 9.925 on the uneven bars at Rutgers. Big Ten Gymnast of the Week -- Sierra Brooks took home four titles in Michigan's win over Michigan State, including winning the all-around title with a season-high 39.725, The Plainfield, Ill., native also won the vault, uneven bars and shared the floor titles with all of her scores tying career-bests. Big Ten Specialist of the Week -- Natalie Wojcik competed on the balance beam and floor exercise against Michigan State, sharing the floor title while tying a career-high 9.950 in the closing event. The Douglasville, Pa., native also anchored on the balance beam and scored a 9.900 for a second-place finish. After four weeks of competition, Wojcik ranks fourth nationally on the balance beam. Big Ten Specialist of the Week -- Senior Natalie Wojcik was named a Big Ten Tri-Specialist of the Week after her showing at No. 7 Minnesota. The honor is the first of her career, but she has been named a Big Ten Gymnast of the Week a Michigan-record 12 times. It is also the second straight week a U-M gymnast has earned the honor -- Abby Brenner earned the nod last week. Wojcik tied for third on balance beam with a 9.900, with her score pushed Michigan over 198 points for the first time this season and the fifth time in program history. The senior also earned a 9.925 on floor exercise and scored a 9.875 on vault. Abby Brenner (Jan. 18)
Big Ten Specialist of the Week -- Senior Abby Brenner was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week after sharing the floor exercise title and tying for second on uneven bars against Arizona State (Jan. 15). Brenner earns the honor for the second time in her career. The Maple Grove, Minn., native recorded a career-high 9.950 on floor and is tied for third nationally after two weeks of competition, while ranking 16th nationally on the uneven bars. » Big Ten Release
Natalie Wojcik (Jan. 10)
Big Ten Gymnast of the Week -- Senior Natalie Wojcik earned her 12th career Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor as she captured the award in the opening week of the 2022 season. Wojcik earned three event titles against No. 15 Georgia as she posted a 39.650 in the all-around to win the event and rank first nationally in the first week of the season. The senior all-arounder scored matching 9.950s on both the uneven bars and balance beam to again lead the nation in week one and capture her second and third event titles of the evening against the Bulldogs (Jan. 6). » Big Ten Release
Natalie Wojcik, Sierra Brooks (Jan. 4)
Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch, Preseason Poll -- Senior Natalie Wojcik and junior Sierra Brooks were named Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch in the 2022 season, while the Wolverines were unanimously picked to win the Big Ten in the conference's preseason poll.
Wojcik, a four-time WCGA All-American, returns as the reigning Big Ten vault champion after earning a perfect 10.0 at the Big Ten Championships in the 2021 season. The senior all-arounder had two perfect 10.0s last season with one on vault and one on the beam, while earning her second WCGA Regional Gymnast of the Year nod. Wojcik earned 15 event titles in 2021 with five on uneven bars, four on beam, four in the all-around, one on floor and one on the vault.
Brooks returns for her third season after being a four-time WCGA All-American and a three-time individual regional champion in the 2021 campaign. The junior all-arounder won the vault, beam, and all-around at the 2021 regional championships and notched her second First Team All-Big Ten honor. Brooks won 13 events last season with six on vault, one on uneven bars, two on beam and four in the all-around.
Michigan was the unanimous pick to win the 2022 Big Ten title after earning the 2021 national title. The Wolverines set seven program records in the 2021 campaign and return all but one routine for the 2022 season. » Big Ten Release
