The No. 15-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team resumes its spring season with the start of Big Ten play, hosting Wisconsin on Friday (Feb. 19) at 6 p.m. and Minnesota on Sunday (Feb. 21) at noon at the Varsity Tennis Center.
Wolverine Bites
• Michigan resumes match play following a two-week department-wide activities pause. The Wolverines dropped their only dual match of the season to Baylor, which was the runner-up at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships last weekend.
• The Wolverines are ranked No. 15 in the latest edition of the ITA rankings (Feb. 17).
• Andrew Fenty and Mattias Siimar rank No. 2 in doubles with a 5-0 record this season. In 2019, the pair posted a 13-2 dual-match record that included a 13-match win streak.
• The reigning Big Ten Men's Tennis Player of the Year, Andrew Fenty, is No. 14 in the singles rankings with a 3-5 record. An All-American last season, he posted an 11-4 record at No. 1 singles during dual-match play, including a 7-1 record against nationally-ranked opponents.
• Sophomore Ondrej Styler (4-4) is ranked No. 28 in singles. He earned All-Big Ten first team honors as a rookie, going 9-3 in dual matches playing at Nos. 2 and 3 with five wins over ranked opponents and three match-clinching singles victories.
• Fifth-year senior Connor Johnston (2-7) is the third Wolverine in the singles rankings (No. 83). He went 8-5 in dual-match singles last season.
• Senior Nick Beaty has the best singles win percentage on the team (.750) going 6-2 and winning his last four matches.

Michigan leads, 82-9-1, in the all-time series against Wisconsin and has not lost a match to the Badgers since 2009. The Wolverines lead, 55-34-2, in the all-time series with Minnesota and have claimed victories in the last three meetings. The last time the Gophers got the best of Michigan was in 2015.
About the Opponents
Wisconsin opened its Big Ten slate last week with a 6-1 loss at Illinois. Junior Lenard Soha earned the lone singles victory with an upset win over No. 15 Alex Brown, 6-4, 6-1. In doubles, Gabriel Huber and Tim Dzhurinskiy captured a 6-4 win at No. 2. Last year, the Badgers played to an 8-7 record.
The Gophers will open their conference dual season at Michigan State on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 20). The Gophers went 8-3 last year.
