
Maymi Signs Burnett Through Transfer Portal

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's tennis head coach Sean Maymi announced Tuesday (June 9) the addition of transfer Evan Burnett to the Wolverines roster.
Burnett spent the last two seasons at Texas. After a medical redshirt his freshman year, he compiled a combined 26-8 singles and doubles record throughout the 2025-26 season. He delivered match-clinching singles victories against nationally ranked Oklahoma and Georgia, while also helping secure the doubles point against Georgia with Jonah Braswell.
A former five-star recruit from Woodside, Calif., Burnett was ranked as high as No. 42 nationally by TennisRecruiting.net and finished his junior career as the No. 1-ranked USTA 16s doubles player in the nation, capturing two USTA Gold Ball championships at the Clay Court Nationals and Indoor Nationals.
Burnett helped lead the Menlo School program to Central Coast Section and Northern California championships. He was named the San Mateo Daily Journal Boys' Player of the Year, earned WBAL MVP honors, was a USA Today HSSA Player of the Year finalist, and received All-USA Today HSSA recognition. Burnett also earned two All-America selections at the National High School Tennis All-American Invitational.
Burnett currently owns a UTR of 12.64 in singles and 13.04 in doubles. He is ranked 1,775th in singles, with a career high of 1,370 and is ranked 1,833rd in doubles with a career best of 1,570.
