
Michigan to Head West to Take on USC

» Michigan will return to the field at USC on Saturday (Feb. 15) at noon PST after securing a 10-8 season-opening victory at Jacksonville last weekend.
» Michigan and USC will meet for just the second time in the history of the two programs as the Trojans defeated the Wolverines, 13-4, in Los Angeles in 2016.
» USC was in the Michigan region in last season's NCAA Tournament, but the teams did not face one another.

The No. 9-ranked University of Michigan women's lacrosse team (1-0) will continue its brief road stint as it heads west to take on No. 16 USC (1-0) on Saturday (Feb. 15) in a noon PST contest at Soni McAlister Field in Los Angeles. The Wolverines and Trojans will meet for just the second time in history.
Series History against USC
• Michigan and USC have met just once, in 2016, a 13-4 Michigan setback in Los Angeles.
• U-M and USC were both in the Michigan region during the 2019 NCAA Tournament, but the Trojans fell in the first round to Denver.
Looking at the Trojans
• USC is 1-0 this season following a 9-8 road win over Hofstra in its opening weekend.
• The Trojans bring a .639 shots-on-goal percentage into the contest after putting 23 of 36 shots on goal against Hofstra.
• Emily Concialdi leads USC with three goals and one assist on the season and is 2-for-2 on free position attempts.
• Karrigan Miller also had a multi-goal performance, scoring two in the season opener.
• USC struggled on the draw, winning just six while Hofstra won 13.
• In goal, Riley Hertford made 11 saves and allowed eight goals for a .579 save percentage.
Garrett, Muir Pick Up Where They Left Off
• Senior Molly Garrett and junior Caitlin Muir picked up where they left off a year ago, leading the Wolverines in their 10-8 victory at Jacksonville.
• Garrett and Muir scored two goals each and added an assist for a team-best three points against the Dolphins.
• Garrett added four draw-control victories and a caused turnover, while Muir had a caused turnover.
Kane Controls the Midfield Against Dolphins
• Junior Maggie Kane put together a complete game at Jacksonville, scoring her first goal of the season while picking up a team-best six draw control wins.
• Defensively, the junior midfielder had two ground ball pickups and two caused turnovers.
Weissman Earns First Career Start in Net
• Junior Arielle Weissman earned her first career start between the pipes against Jacksonville, making eight saves and giving up just two goals in the final 30 minutes against the Dolphins.
• Weissman added two ground balls for Michigan in 60 minutes.
Two Wolverines Make Debuts
• Sophomore transfer Kaley Thompson and freshman Mariana Lopez-Ona made their first appearances wearing a Michigan uniform against Jacksonville.
• Thompson scored her first goal as a Wolverine in the second half on her only shot of the contest.
• Lopez-Ona had one free-position attempt coming off the bench for Michigan.
2020 Captains
• The Wolverines chose seniors Molly Garrett, Maggie Handlan, Chandler Kirby, Alli Kothari and Quinn Melidona as their captains for the 2020 season.
• Captains were voted on by the team prior to the 2020 season.
• Garrett, Handlan and Kothari are two-time captains as the trio represented the team in their junior seasons, leading the team to its best season in program history.
Garrett Makes Appearance on National Team Roster
• Senior Molly Garrett was one of 27 players who represented the United States national team in the 2019 Fall Classic.
• Garrett was one of five collegiate players named to the training roster for the event.
• The senior was one of four Wolverines who started all 20 games in 2019, and she posted 29 goals, including a career-best six against Northwestern (May 3) in the Big Ten Tournament. She also was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List and the Big Ten All-Tournament team.
