
Michigan to Kick Off Two-Game Road Swing at Wisconsin

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (11-5, 2-3 Big Ten) hits the road for the first of two straight away contests, heading to Wisconsin (9-7, 1-4 Big Ten) to face the Badgers on Thursday (Jan. 16) at 7 p.m. CST at Kohl Center. The game will be streamed live on BTN Plus.
• Michigan is hitting the road for two straight games, first heading to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers (Jan. 16) in the lone meeting between the teams this season. U-M will complete its two-game swing with a game at Nebraska on Sunday (Jan. 19). The Wolverines will have another two-game road swing toward the end of conference action, playing at Michigan State (Feb. 23) and at Penn State (Feb. 27). U-M has two true road wins on the season and is looking for its first Big Ten win away from Ann Arbor.
• Michigan and Wisconsin will meet just once this season after squaring off three times last year. The teams played each other three times in a span of 34 days last season, playing a home-and-home before squaring off in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. U-M came away with a 76-70 win in Madison on Feb. 3, a 59-49 win in Ann Arbor on March 3 and outlasted the Badgers in double overtime, 73-65, in Indianapolis on March 8.
• Wisconsin (9-7, 1-4 Big Ten) is coming off a 69-52 loss at Michigan State last Sunday (Jan. 12). The Badgers are averaging 64.3 points per game on 40.2 percent shooting while allowing 61.7 points per game on 37.8 percent shooting. Wisconsin has three players scoring more than nine points per game in Imani Lewis (14.4 ppg), Abby Laszewski (11.2 ppg), and Sydney Hilliard (9.9 ppg). Imani Lewis is coming off six consecutive games with double-doubles. Michigan has won its last seven games against Wisconsin.
• Michigan is averaging 73.0 points per game on 45.6 percent shooting from the field this season. U-M has had a different leading scorer in seven of its 16 games. Senior Kayla Robbins has led Michigan in scoring twice, the latter being a 23-point outburst against Syracuse (Dec. 5). Classmate Akienreh Johnson notched the first 20-point game of her career, going for 21 points in U-M's victory over Kent State (Nov. 15) and went for 20 points in a win over Appalachian State (Dec. 14) to lead Michigan twice. Sophomore Naz Hillmon has led Michigan in scoring six times, highlighted by a career-best 28 points against Akron (Nov. 16). Freshman Izabel Varejão joined the party with the first double-figure scoring game of her career when she turned in 11 points at Eastern Michigan (Nov. 27). Freshman Michelle Sidor led U-M in scoring for the first time in a win over Morgan State (Dec. 1), going for a career-best 16 points. Sophomore Amy Dilk has led Michigan three times, the first coming with 26 points against Florida State (Dec. 22), marking a new career high. Hailey Brown led Michigan for the first time this season on Dec. 31, going for 15 points against Penn State.
