WOLVERINE BITES
• The Wolverines will face their third straight top-10 opponent in a span of nine days and fourth ranked opponent of the season when they take on No. 1 Stony Brook. U-M is seeking its first win over a ranked opponent in program history.
• Michigan returns home to U-M Lacrosse Stadium after a pair of games on the road during its 2018 spring trip. The Wolverines lost a heartbreaker to No. 10 Navy, 11-10, after leading for much of the game. Junior Adriana Pendino and freshman Maggie Kane led U-M with hat tricks, and Kane was recognized for her efforts by being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week (Feb. 27). Michigan then faced No. 10 Towson, where the Tigers earned a 14-7 win. Sophomore Chandler Kirby posted three goals, scoring three or more goals for the second time in three games.
• With her five goals in Michigan's last two games, Pendino moved into eighth all-time at Michigan for career goals with 25. Seventeen of those 25 goals have come in six games this season and lead the Wolverines in that category. Pendino is tied for fourth in the Big Ten in goals per game, averaging 2.84 per outing.
• Michigan is 31-for-49 (63 percent) on free-position shots this season and has already surpassed last year's team total of 27 free-position goals. The Wolverines are also approaching the program record for most FPGs in a season of 37, which was set by the 2015 team. Eleven different players have tallied a FPG this season, led by a 9-for-15 mark from Pendino.
• Sophomore Molly Garrett and freshman Maggie Kane have combined to win 44 of U-M's 64 draw controls (69 percent), recording 23 and 21, respectively, this season. Garrett's 41 career draw controls put her in a tie for seventh all-time at Michigan, while her 23 draw controls this season are one shy of breaking into the all-time top for DCs in a season. Garrett (3.8) and Kane (3.5) rank seventh and tied for eighth, respectively, in the conference for draw controls per game.
• Sophomore Sydney Whitaker and junior Madison Richardson picked up six ground balls in consecutive games last week, with Whitaker recording six against Navy and Richardson following suit against Towson. That mark ties for second all-time at Michigan for ground balls in a single game. The two are tied for the team lead in total ground balls this season with 12 each. Whitaker, Richardson and junior Casey Cummo are tied atop the caused turnover category with seven apiece.
• Junior goalie Alli Kothari has earned the start in all six games this season, while classmate Mira Shane has also seen time off the bench in four of six games. Kothari is tied for third in the Big Ten, averaging 6.0 saves per game, while she also owns a save percentage of .424. She matched her season high of 10 saves against 10th-ranked Navy, helping the Wolverines to nearly upset the Midshipmen.
