Michigan picked up its 30th win of the season in tonight's victory over Northwestern. It is the second straight season the Maize and Blue has won 30 games in a year.
Junior Cody Bruder was 2-for-4 in tonight's win but had both hits in the sixth inning. It is the first time a Michigan player has had two hits in an inning since Mike Kittle did the trick in the fourth inning against Ball State on May 18, 2010.
Sophomore Carmen Benedetti extended his reached-base streak to 26 games after his single in the third inning. Benedetti also has 57 RBI on the year, tops in the Big Ten.
Junior Evan Hill picked up the win for the Maize and Blue on the mound. Hill now has 13 career victories in a Michigan uniform.
There were two rain delays in the game, one in the top of the sixth that lasted 1:15 and one in the bottom of the sixth that went 38 minutes.
