This weekend marked the first conference meeting between Michigan and Maryland and their first meeting since 1957. Michigan won the series this weekend and leads the overall series, 10-5.
Sophomore Carmen Benedetti picked up a run batted in this afternoon, remaining tied with Maryland's Jose Cuas for the Big Ten lead at 27. The two lead the Big Ten by three RBI over Nebraska's Blake Headley.
Senior Jackson Glines raised his average today, going 2-for-4 on the afternoon. His average improved to .425, best in the Big Ten.
Freshman right hander Jayce Vancena picked up his first win this afternoon, allowing just four hits in four shutout innings. The appearance lowered his earned-run average to 2.82.
Junior Cody Bruder has reached base in 20 consecutive games after his bunt single in the first inning. Bruder also has a 12-game hitting streak. His 20-game reached-base streak is the longest such streak for a Wolverine this season.
Bryan Pall picked up his first career save, picking up two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning. In nine appearances this season, Pall has racked up 14 strikeouts in 15.1 innings and recorded a miniscule 0.59 ERA.
