• This was the first meeting between Michigan and Long Beach State on the diamond.

• Michigan fell in its season opener for the fifth straight year. The Wolverines last win in a lidlifter was on Feb. 19, 2010, in a 19-11 win over Jacksonville State.

• Junior Cody Bruder and freshman Drew Lugbauer each made its first career start in a Michigan uniform. Bruder had a double and scored in the first inning while Lugbauer had an RBI single in the fourth.

• Travis Maezes went 2-for-5 with an RBI double at the plate. Maezes had 19 multi-hit games in 2013.

• Jacob Cronenworth extends his reached base streak to 17 games (dating back to last year) with his double in the seventh.

• Matt Ogden pitched in his first game since missing all of the 2014 season with an injury. Ogden allowed a hit and a run with a pair of strikeouts in 1.1 innings.
