Freshman LHP Evan Hill (7-2, 2.60 ERA) pitched 6.1 innings, allowing three hits, and he was charged with two earned runs in a no-decision start. Hill left the game with a 3-0 lead, but his two runners that were on base when he left the game scored, and Iowa later tied the game in the eighth inning.
Hill had four strikeouts to push his total to 40 on the season to rank second on the team while pitching a team-leading total of 72.6 innings. Hill leads the team with 12 pitching starts.
Hill is 4-1 with a 3.00 ERA in conference-only action with Big Ten wins over Minnesota, Michigan State, Penn State and Northwestern and a loss at Indiana.
Freshman SS Travis Maezes, who is hitting .294 (50-for-170), was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Maezes, who is second on the team with 30 RBI, is tied for second on the team with 13 multi-hit games.
Junior OF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .348 (64-for-184), was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. O'Neill's fourth-inning single extended his current hitting streak to six games.
O'Neill has hits in 36 of the 44 games this season and in 40 of his last 48 games in the past two seasons.
Freshman 3B/RHP Jacob Cronenworth, who is hitting .319 (51-for-160), was 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and his team-leading 31st RBI of the season in action. Cronenworth has 13 multi-hit games on the season to share second on the team.
Senior captain CF Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .333 (40-for-120), was 1-for-5 with a run scored. Biondi scored one run, giving him 29 runs scored in 2013 to push his career total to 178 runs to rank second on U-M's career runs scored list. The record is 190 runs scored by Casey Close (1983-86).
