The shutout was the first in the 13 games this season suffered by the Wolverines and the first in 16 games since a 1-0 loss to Penn State on the final weekend of the 2011 season (May 19 in Ann Arbor). The last shutout on the road was an 8-0 loss at Purdue (April 8, 2011).
Sophomore 1B Brett Winger, who is hitting .356 (16-for-45), was 1-for-3, extending his hit streak to seven games with his second-inning single.
Senior co-captain 3B John Lorenz, who is hitting .220 (11-for-50), was 1-for-3 with an eighth-inning single to account for Michigan's second hit.
Junior RHP Brandon Sinnery (0-1, 4.97 ERA) pitched an eight-inning complete game, allowing six earned runs on 12 hits with two strikeouts without allowing a walk. It was Michigan's first complete game of the season and the third of Sinnery's career.
Sinnery leads the Wolverines in pitching starts (4) and innings pitched (25.1), and he shares the team strikeout lead at 12 with junior RHP Ben Ballantine.
Sophomore RF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .453 (24-for-53), was 0-for-3 at LSU, snapping his hitting streak at 10 games.
