Freshman LHP Trent Szkutnik (1-0, 6.43 ERA, one save) pitched four shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out three in his first career win in his first start as a Wolverine. Szkutnik, who shares the team lead with RHP Matt Ogden with eight pitching appearances, has 17 strikeouts in 14 innings.
Freshman RHP Matt Ogden (1-1, 3.60 ERA, two saves) pitched two scoreless innings, allowing one hit while recording one strikeout as he earned his second save as a Wolverine. Ogden has 12 strikeouts in his 15 innings of work in eight appearances, all out of the bullpen.
Junior co-captain CF/2B Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .294 (25-for-85), was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base as he extended his hitting streak to seven games.
Biondi, who has eight multi-hit games this season and 47 for his U-M career, has scored a team-leading total of 23 times this season and has scored 128 runs in 135 games in his Wolverine career.
Biondi, who leads the Wolverines with 16 stolen bases, collected his 72nd career steal. Biondi ranks third on U-M's career stolen base list, putting him two shy of former Wolverine LF Jim Durham (74 steals, 1986-89) in second place. The record is 90 stolen bases by CF Eric Rose (2004-07).
Sophomore RF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .365 (35-for-96), was 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a two-run single to extend his hitting streak to five games. O'Neill, who has 43 career stolen bases, has hits in 63 of his 78 games as a Wolverine.
O'Neill's third-inning single proved to be his second game-winning RBI in the last two games and his third of the season. O'Neill has six 'gamers' in his U-M career.
Freshman LF Will Drake, who is hitting .326 (30-for-92), was 2-for-5. Drake has eight multi-hit games this season.
Senior catcher/DH Coley Crank, who is hitting .198 (16-for-81), was 1-for-4 with a double. Crank has three doubles this season and 39 in his U-M career.
Sophomore catcher Cole Martin, who is hitting .250 (11-for-44), was 1-for-4 with an eighth-inning single as he extended his personal-best hitting streak to six games.
