Michigan Baseball Holds Annual Parent Day Game

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team held its annual Parent Day game this morning (Sunday, Oct. 10) at the Wilpon Baseball Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium. The White team defeated the Maize team 8-2, scoring a pair of runs in the third, fifth and ninth innings.
The White team got on the board in the third inning as Jason Malafakis plated two runs on a single to left, scoring Kevin Krantz and Brett Winger. In the fourth,Adam Robinson singled to open the inning. He went to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on an error and scored on a fielder's choice off Winger's bat. The Maize team answered in the bottom of the frame. Alex Lakatos reached on a fielder's choice and moved to third on a single from Zach Johnson. Derek Dennisthen brought in Lakatos with an infield single to shortstop.
The White team brought in two more runs in the fifth as Robinson's single brought in Jon McCann. McCann scored on Winger's second base hit of the game. The Maize scored a run in the sixth as Anthony Toth reached on a fielder's choice, went to second as Coley Crank was hit by a pitch and scored on a White team error.
The White team came back in the seventh as McCann scored on a single from Robinson. In the ninth, the White team plated two more runs as Krantz singled home John DiLaura and an error on a Cole Martin ground ball allowed Krantz to cross the plate.
Robinson had three hits to lead the White team, while Winger was 2-for-4 with two RBI. For the Maize, Crank, Dennis and Johnson had a hit apiece.
On the mound, Travis Smith struck out the side for the Maize in the second inning. Brandon Sinnery, Kyle Clark, Jake Engels and Winger had 1-2-3 innings on the bump.
