
Stacy Tabbed NSCAA National Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Seniormidfielder Jake Stacy(Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central) of the No. 24-ranked University of Michigan men's soccer team has been named the NSCAA Men's National Player of the Week, the association announced Wednesday (Oct. 8). Stacy is the first Big Ten athlete to receive the national honor this season.
Stacy scored the game-winning goals in a pair of victories over ranked opponents last week, denting the twine to deliver a 3-1 victory over then-No. 8 Notre Dame on Oct. 1 and scoring the lone marker in a 1-0 win at then-No. 20 Indiana on Oct. 4. Stacy was also tabbed Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and named to the National Team of the Week by both Soccer America and College Soccer News.
Each week, a male and female player is selected by a committee from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. Stacy will also be recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel.
Michigan will play its inaugural game at the U-M Soccer Complex on Sunday (Oct. 12) when Western Michigan comes to town for a 2:30 p.m. contest. The match will be played on the west practice field.
