GREENVILLE, N.C. -- A steady pattern of bad weather caused the rainout of the Michigan baseball series opener at East Carolina Friday night (March 16). The game will not be rescheduled.
The Wolverines (6-4) and East Carolina (11-6), ranked No. 25 by Baseball America and No. 27 by Collegiate Baseball, are scheduled to play a pair of nine-inning games in a doubleheader at Clark-LeClair Stadium on Saturday (March 17, 1 p.m.) to close out the weekend series.
The scheduled starters for the Wolverines against ECU on Saturday are sophomore RHP Zach Putnam (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer HS), at 2-1 with a 1.47 ERA, in the opener and senior RHP Andrew Hess (Kalamazoo, Mich./Central HS), at 1-0, 3.86, in the second game.
The Wolverines open their home schedule next weekend (March 23-25) with four games against Oakland University. The Ray Fisher Stadium home opener against the Golden Grizzlies is scheduled for Friday (March 23, 3 p.m.).
