ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Coach Rich Maloney's University of Michigan baseball team will play under the brand new lights at Ray Fisher Stadium with an intrasquad battle on Friday (Sept. 24). Batting practice will start at 6:30 p.m., with the game to start at approximately 7:30 p.m.
This will be the first game-type action for the Wolverines under the lights that were installed following the completion of the 2004 season. The lights were tested at night for the first time on Aug. 24.
The Wolverines, 34-26 in 2004, have earned the third seed in the Big Ten playoffs in each of Maloney's two seasons as head coach.
Michigan opens the 2005 season vs. Illinois-Chicago on Friday, Feb. 25, in Port St. Lucie, Fla., while the home opener is against Oakland University on Friday, March 25 (3:05 p.m.). The first night game at Fisher Stadium is slated for Friday, April 22 (6:35 p.m.), when Michigan hosts Ohio State in the opener of a four-game Big Ten series.
