Getz, Roberts Named to All-Big Ten Tournament Team

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Sophomore 2B Chris Getz (Grosse Pointe, Mich./South HS) and senior DH Brandon Roberts (Arlington, Texas/Martin HS) of the University of Michigan baseball team were both named to the All-Big Ten Tournament team.
Getz, who had hits in 36 of his last 39 games, hit .600 (9-for-15) in Big Ten Tournament play, while Roberts, the team hitting leader (.368), batted .438 (7-for-16) in postseason action.
Top seed Minnesota captured the Big Ten Tournament title by beating Ohio State 7-3 in Sunday's (May 30) championship contest to earn the Big Ten's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Chris Getz finished the season with the fifth best single-season totals for the Wolverines in hits (87), tying Mike Cervenak (1999), and at-bats (229).
Getz led the Wolverines in at-bats (239), runs (52), hits (87), sacrifice flies (5) and total bases (116) while sharing the lead in doubles (17) and triples (3). He was second on the team in RBI (44) and stolen bases (15).
On defense Getz led the Wolverines in assists (172), had a .965 fielding percentage and was in on 42 of Michigan's 63 double plays.
Getz (.600, 9-for-15), Brandon Roberts (.438, 7-for-16) and freshman shortstop Leif Mahler (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) at .357 (5-for-14) were the top three Wolverines in hitting at the Big Ten Tournament, while senior/junior RHP Jim Brauer (Carmel, Ind./Carmel HS) was the top pitcher for the Wolverines with a nine-inning complete-game win vs. Ohio State with a 2.00 ERA.
Roberts was hitting .278 (22-for-79) during the Big Ten series at Iowa in early April (April 9-11) when he caught fire and hit .449 (48-for-107) to push his average to a career-best .372 before finishing with a team-leading .368, one point better than his dad, Leon Roberts, notched in 1972 when he led the Wolverines with a .367 average.
