Niemeyer Selected for Academic All-District Distinction

KENT, Ohio -- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced yesterday (Thursday, Nov. 4) that University of Michigan senior Matt Niemeyer (St. Louis, Mo./John Burroughs HS) has been named to the Academic All-District IV men's soccer team. Niemeyer is one of 11 players selected to the team, which includes players from schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.

This season, Niemeyer has captained the Wolverines to a 9-5-4 overall record. He is one of three U-M students who will represent the entire student body at the Rhodes Scholar state-level competition later this month. In his career, Niemeyer has earned three Academic All-Big Ten Conference citations (2001-03) and is a four-time recipient of the U-M Athletic Academic Achievement award.
The Wolverines will wrap up their regular season on Saturday (Nov. 6) when they take on Ohio State at the U-M Soccer Field. Michigan will then begin postseason play when it hosts the Big Ten Championship on Nov. 11-14.
