ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan head baseball coach Rich Maloney has announced plans for a pair of winter baseball camps to close out 2004. The first camp is Thanksgiving weekend, running Friday through Sunday (Nov. 26-28), and the second camp will run the week after Christmas (Dec. 27-30).
The camps will be held in the Oosterbaan Field House (located behind Schembechler Hall off of State Street), which features excellent facilities for complete baseball skill performance and improvement.
Maloney, who has earned a national reputation for developing players, will direct the camps along with the Wolverine coaching staff members Bob Keller and Scott Kingston. Outstanding area college and high school coaches also will serve as instructors.
All campers will be placed into age groups in order to insure the most improvement, challenge and fun during the camp experience.
The Thanksgiving weekend camp offers a popular feature Maloney introduced in 2002, with a Kid's Camp format on Friday (Nov. 26) for players from ages 6 to 12 which will run from 2:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., allowing parents to take advantage of one of the biggest shopping days of the year.
The Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 27-28) portion of the Thanksgiving camp will feature instruction for players from age 8 to 2005 high school graduates.
The camps running Monday and Tuesday (Dec. 27-28), covering all aspects of the sport, will range from age 8 to 2005 high school grads. The camps on Wednesday and Thursday (Dec. 29-30) will feature ages six to 12 early in the day, with ages 13 to 2005 grads in the afternoon and early evening.
