Team Tidbits
The Wolverines fired off 44 shots in the two-game Big Ten/SEC Challenge to raise the season total to 413 shots attempted, the second highest total in school history. The team is averaging 21.7 shots per game, on pace to set a new Big Ten Conference record, 1.4 ahead of the mark established by the 1996 Michigan Wolverines (20.3 spg). Individually, Amber Berendowsky's (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) 32 shots this season push her career total to 201, the Michigan school record and one of the 10 highest shot totals in Big Ten history. Abby Crumpton (68) and Emily Schmitt (64) have both eclipsed the former school record for shots in a season -- 63 established by Berendowsky in 1997. Further, the team has registered 123 points, the second-highest in school history behind the 222 scored in 1997. Michigan's 43 goals are the third-most by a Wolverine squad, one shy of the 1996 team's total and 38 short of the school record set in 1997.

Beitel
Junior All-America candidate Kacy Beitel scored a goal against Alabama (Oct. 29) to finish the regular season with a share of the team lead in goals (9, Abby Crumpton). Despite missing time early in the season due to a hamstring injury, Beitel is Michigan's second-leading scorer with 21 points, only trailing freshman Crumpton's 23 points. In Michigan's first seven games, Beitel only scored twice, but in the final 12, she has tallied seven goals and three assists for 17 points. Her torrid stretch moved Beitel's career points total to 68, just four behind Ruth Poulin (1994-97) for the third-highest total by a Wolverine. The co-Big Ten Player of the Week for her performances Sept. 24-26, Beitel has game-winning goals at Minnesota, against Michigan State (Oct. 8), Purdue (Oct. 3) and in overtime against Utah (Sept. 12) while scoring the game-tying goal in Michigan's 2-1 overtime win against then-No. 15 Illinois (Sept. 24).

50!
Senior All-Big Ten candidate Mari Hoff (Canton, Mich./Salem HS) scored a goal and an assist in the Butler contest (Oct. 24). The three-point performance pushed her career total to 50 points, making her the seventh Wolverine -- and third this season -- to reach the 50-point plateau. All-America candidate Emily Schmitt, 5-9-19 on the season, netted a goal at Northwestern (Oct. 10) to become the sixth Wolverine to reach the milestone and has 55 career points. All-Big Ten candidate Kacy Beitel, 9-3-21 on the year, recorded her 50th point earlier in the season and stands at 68 career points.
Consistent Crumpton
Big Ten Freshman of the Year candidate Abby Crumpton (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams HS) added an assist in Michigan's win over Alabama (Oct. 29) to extend her team-high point total to 23. Further, Crumpton has attempted a Wolverine-record 68 shots on the season, breaking the school record of 63 set by Amber Berendowsky in 1997. Crumpton, tied with Kacy Beitel for the team lead in goals with nine, is looking to become the first freshman to lead the Wolverines in scoring since 1996, when Mari Hoff paced the team with eight goals and Berendowsky with 19 points. Beitel holds the school record for goal and points in a freshman season with 14 and 33 in 1997.
