Kevin Anderson was named associate head coach of the University of Michigan men’s soccer program in February 2026.
Anderson joined the Wolverines after three seasons as the head coach at Southern Connecticut State, where he led the Owls to three straight conference tournament appearances.
Prior to his time at SCSU, Anderson served as the head coach at Columbia for 14 seasons. During his tenure, he guided the Lions to the winningest season in program history with 13 victories in 2015 and, in 2016, led Columbia to its first at-large NCAA Tournament bid in 23 years.
Anderson also compiled an accomplished record as an assistant coach, highlighted by back-to-back Division II national championships with Southern Connecticut in 1998 and 1999. He also served as an assistant at Columbia and Boston College. While at BC, Anderson was named to College Soccer News' Top 20 Assistant Coaches list and helped the Eagles capture their first ACC regular-season and tournament titles in school history, along with the program’s first No. 1 overall NCAA Tournament seed.
As a student-athlete at Southern Connecticut, Anderson earned First-Team All-America honors and helped the program capture the 1992 national championship. Following his collegiate career, he played professionally for the Long Island Rough Riders, Minnesota Thunder, Colorado Rapids, Tampa Bay Mutiny and Charleston Battery. Anderson won a USISL national championship in 1995, was named to the USL Best XI in 1997 and was selected No. 1 overall in the 1998 MLS Supplemental Draft by the Colorado Rapids. He concluded his playing career with league championships at multiple stops.
Anderson and his wife, Sara, have two daughters, Lennon and Harper.
