» Penelopea Gordon led the Wolverines for the second straight race, moving up 27 spots over the final three kilometers to finish 26th overall in 20:02.6.
» Making her season debut, junior Stephanie Bertram recorded a career-best time of 20:10.8 to finish second among the Wolverines and 38th overall.
» Hannah Pricco, Mikita Barry and Caroline Beiting rounded out Michigan's five scorers, with each recording a career-best time.

CHICAGO -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team placed ninth at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invite on Friday (Sept. 25) at Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course. Seven of U-M's 10 competitors in the championship race -- and 11 Wolverines overall -- recorded career-best 6-kilometer times.
Tom Cooney Women's 6k Championship Race
Penelopea Gordon ran with Michigan's top four through the first 3 kilometers before breaking away over the second half of the race. Gordon moved up 27 positions over the final 3 kilometers to finish 26th overall and lead the Wolverines.
Stephanie Bertram, Hannah Pricco, Mikita Barry and Caroline Beiting each posted career-best times to round out Michigan's five scorers.
Illinois native Brooke Johnston finished 62nd with a career-best time of 20:25.78 in her home state. Katelyn Watkins and Hannah Gates finished 92nd and 112th, respectively, with both also improving their career-best times.
Women's 6k Open Race
Michigan placed second in the open race, with four Wolverines setting career-best times and two recording their first collegiate cross country results. Two Wolverines finished in the top 10, with Rylee Tolson placing seventh and Emmry Ross taking ninth.
Michigan will continue its regular season on Friday, Oct. 16, at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. The race is scheduled for 11 a.m.
