Amber Garrett is in her fourth season as the University of Michigan softball program's director of operations.
Garrett previously served with the Michigan swimming and diving programs in the same role. She is responsible for coordinating the Wolverines' travel, budget and scheduling, among numerous other administrative duties.
Prior to arriving in Ann Arbor, she spent 13 years as recreation coordinator with the Highlands Ranch Metro District in Colorado.
Garrett played collegiate softball at the North Dakota State University (2005-06) and Otero Junior College (2003-04). She was named the 2006 Independent Pitcher of the Year and a two-time All-Independent honoree (2005, '06) while at NDSU. She posted an 18-11 record as a senior with a 1.82 ERA, 179 strikeouts, seven shutouts and two saves. She was a seven-time Independent Player of the Week and, as a junior, set a school single-season record by issuing just nine walks in 91.1 innings pitched.
While at Otero JC, she posted a 51-7 record over two seasons and led the Rattlers to a NJCAA Region IX championship as a sophomore (2004) when she was named the NJCAA Region IX Player of the Year and to NJCAA All-America second team.
A native of Pueblo, Colo., Garrett graduated from North Dakota State in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in recreation management and was a NFCA Scholar Athlete and Independent Softball All-Academic Team honoree. She earned a master's degree in sport management from the University of Florida in 2023.
