ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- After earning a bronze medal at the Shanghai Volleyball Future Star Tournament, sophomore middle blocker Ece Senyapici of the University of Michigan volleyball team has earned a spot on the Türkiye U-22 National Team for the European U-22 Championships in the Netherlands.
Senyapici joined the Wolverines in 2025 but did not see action in her freshman season. She is poised to make an impact this season after gaining more international experience and the graduation of middle blocker Serena Nyambio. Senyapici played in all five games for Türkiye at the recent Shanghai tournament, tallying 12 points in a four-set win over France. Those 12 points ranked second on the team and tied for fourth overall in the match.
She has represented Türkiye at European Championships before, winning a bronze medal at the U16 European Championship, earning a second-place finish at the U17 European Championship and winning the 2024 U20 European Championship. This will be Senyapici's first participation at the U22 European Championship.
Türkiye will play group stage matches against Ukraine, Spain and host Netherlands beginning Tuesday (July 7) with the top two nations in each of the two groups advancing to the semifinals.
