Michigan and Oregon (15-13, 6-12 Big Ten) traded points throughout a first set that featured 22 ties and eight lead changes. After early swings from both sides, U-M grabbed a 15-13 edge at the media timeout behind a kill from Jacobs and an ace from Burke. Oregon responded with a 5-0 run to go up 18-15, but the Wolverines answered with a 3-0 burst led by Nyambio with a block and a kill. Michigan reached set point at 26-25 after a hitting error from the hosts, while another Oregon attack error closed out the 27-25 win.
Oregon controlled the second set, jumping out to a 5-1 lead and extending it to 17-7. Michigan answered with two straight points, but the Ducks maintained control and went ahead 19-9, forcing a second U-M timeout. A kill from Jacyn Bamis sparked Michigan briefly, and the Wolverines used a 6-2 run to force an Oregon timeout. The Ducks took three of the next four points to reach set point, and although Michigan fought off two chances with a Hanes kill and a Ducks error, Oregon converted its third attempt for a 25-18 win.
The third set began with another Oregon run as the Ducks built a 7-2 lead, but this time Michigan punched back immediately. U-M tied the frame at 7 on a 5-0 run led by a Jacobs kill and block, along with an Edwards ace. After a service error put the Ducks ahead, Michigan took the next three points behind two Jenna Hanes kills for a 10-8 lead. The Wolverines then created separation with a 6-0 run featuring two Burke aces, a Nyambio solo block, and another block assist, forcing a Ducks' timeout. Oregon scored twice after the break, but Michigan closed the frame on a dominant 7-1 run as Jacobs posted three kills and a block assist to win 25-14.
U-M opened the fourth on a 5-2 run with help from a Nyambio-Gordon block, but Oregon quickly tied it at 7-7. The Wolverines held a slim edge until a 7-1 Ducks run made it 14-10. Michigan regrouped with three straight points and, after trailing 16-13 at the media break, surged with an 8-3 stretch powered by three Jacobs kills and an Edwards ace to move ahead 21-19. Oregon answered to tie at 21 and 22, but a Demetrician kill and Duck error gave U-M set point. After two more ties, a Nyambio-Gordon block and a Jacobs kill set up the Oregon error that closed the 27-25 set and clinched the match.
The Wolverines return home for a two-match homestand to close out the regular season, beginning Wednesday (Nov. 26) at 7 p.m. against UCLA at Crisler Center. The match will stream on B1G+.
