
Michigan Set for NCAA East First Round

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team will travel to Lexington, Ky., for the NCAA East Region First Round, hosted by Kentucky on Wednesday, May 27, and Friday, May 29, at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex. Both days of competition will be streamed on ESPN+.

• Fifteen Wolverines will represent U-M in eight individual events. Michigan's lineup includes: Jake Machiniak (200-meter dash), Camden Law (800-meter run), Miles Brown (800-meter run), John O'Reilly (800-meter run), Trent McFarland (1,500-meter run), Brendan Herger (1,500-meter run), Henry Dixon (1,500-meter run), Riley Flemington (1,500-meter run), Nathan Lopez (5,000-meter run), Heath McAllister (5,000-meter run), Benny Diaz (110-meter hurdles), Quincy Isaac (long jump), Jake Wall (long jump), Josh Huisman (shot put), Zane Forist (discus throw).
• The top 12 finishers in each individual event and the top 12 relay teams from each regional site will advance to the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
• Michigan's 1,500-meter squad (Trent McFarland, Brendan Herger, Henry Dixon, Riley Flemington) comes in at No. 2 in the NCAA while the 800-meter squad (Camden Law, Herger, John O'Reilly, Miles Brown) is ranked No. 5.
• The Wolverines remain ranked No. 2 in the Great Lakes Region after placing ninth at the 2026 Big Ten Outdoor Championships with 46 points.
• Isaac earned a silver medal in his Big Ten Championships debut with a personal-best leap of 7.89m (25-10.75), tying the program record set by DeHart Hubbard in 1925. Wall added three points for Michigan with a sixth-place finish at 7.55m (24-9.25).
• McFarland (4:01.49), Herger (4:01.84) and Flemington (4:02.80) went 2-3-7 in the 1,500-meter run, while Law (1:47.29), Brown (1:47.94) and O'Reilly (1:48.01) went 2-4-5 in the 800-meter run.
• Lopez recorded an eighth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:14.02.
• Competition begins Wednesday at 6 p.m. with the long jump and 110-meter hurdles. Friday's action opens at 1 p.m. with the discus throw.
