
Michigan to Compete at Penn Relays

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team will head to the City of Brotherly Love for the Penn Relays on Thursday-Saturday (April 23-25) in Philadelphia, Pa., at Franklin Field. Action on Thursday is set for 6:30 p.m. with the 1,500-meter run, while Friday will open with the 4x100-meter relay at 1:55 p.m. and Saturday will begin with the 4xMile relay at 1:05 p.m.
Notes
• The Wolverines sit at No. 2 in the Great Lakes Region and No. 11 in the Big Ten.
• The 1,500-meter run squad (Trent McFarland, Brendan Herger, Henry Dixon, Aiden Sullivan) remains No. 1 in the NCAA for the fourth straight week, while the 800-meter run squad (Camden Law, Miles Brown, Trent McFarland, John O'Reilly) comes in at No. 3.
• Michigan is coming off a split weekend at the Big Red Classic in Lincoln, Neb., and the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
• At Wake Forest, McFarland and Herger broke the program 1,500-meter run record set by Marc Weiser Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Kevin Sullivan in 1997. McFarland logged the new standard of 3:33.17, the second-best time in the NCAA this season and third-best on the all-time performers list, while Herger finished just behind with a time of 3:34.06.
• Riley Flemington (3:41.42), Jonathan Miles (3:41.99) and Nathan Lopez (3:44.24) also set new 1,500-meter run personal bests, with Flemington's mark just 0.32 seconds shy of cracking the program's all-time performers list.
• Law (1:46.30) and O'Reilly (1:46.87) both ran personal bests in the 800-meter run, the No. 4 and No. 6 times on the program performers list, respectively.
• At Nebraska, Zane Forist threw a season-best 54.26m (178-0) in the discus to finish sixth.
• Josh Huisman placed 18th in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 57.44m (188-5).
• The Wolverines will head to the Tar Heel State for the Duke Twilight on May 3 to close out their regular-season road slate.
