
U-M to Compete at Wake Forest Invitational, Big Red Classic

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team will split between the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Thursday and Friday (April 16-17) at at Kentner Stadium and the Big Red Classic in Lincoln, Neb., on Friday and Saturday (April 17-18) at Nebraska Outdoor Trac.

• Michigan is ranked No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region and No. 4 in the Big Ten in the latest USTFCCCA rankings.
• The shot put event squad (Elizabeth Tapper, Trinity Franklin, Abigail Russell and Janey Campbell) sits at No. 2 in the NCAA, while the 1,500-meter run event squad (Samantha Hastie, Penelopea Gordon, Hannah Pricco and Emmry Ross) and 800-meter squad (Ross, Hastie, Gordon and Coraline Haggarty) come in at No. 8.
• The Wolverines remain on the road after traveling to Athens, Ga., for the Spec Towns Invitational on April 9-11.
• Ross ran a personal best of 2:03.76 in the 800-meter for the No. 4 time on the program performers list and was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
• In the 100-meter hurdles preliminary round, Chyler Turner ran a personal-best time of 13.36 for the No. 6 time on the program performers list.
• Kourtney Rathke jumped 6.01 meters (19 feet, 8.75 inches) in the long jump for a seventh-place finish and the No. 8 mark on the program performers list. Amare Harlan placed fourth, tying her personal best of 6.16m (20-2.5).
• Harlan placed fifth in the 100-meter, running a personal best of 11.38 (+2.5m/s). Had the time been wind legal, it would have been a program record.
• In the 1,500-meter run, Brooke Johnston finished first with a personal best of 4:27.20, while Anjali Hocker Singh (4:30.35) and Alyna Lewis (4:30.87) placed second and third, respectively.
• The Wolverines will head to the City of Brotherly Love for the Penn Relays from April 23-25 as well as the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet on April 25.
