ATHENS, Ga. -- The No. 11-ranked University of Michigan men's track and field team closed out competition at the Spec Towns Invitational on Saturday (April 11) at Spec Towns Track.
Jake Machiniak finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.59, while Corey Royster placed ninth at 10.88.
In the 110-meter hurdles preliminary round, Benny Diaz finished 10th with a time of 14.42, just 0.02 seconds shy of advancing to the finals.
A pair of Wolverines finished in the top 10 of the 400-meter dash, with Miles Brown placing fifth (46.70) and John O'Reilly finishing sixth (46.89). Both times marked personal bests.
Riley Flemington posted a personal-best time of 1:49.17 in the 800-meter invite section to finish second.
Zane Forist recorded a season-best throw of 53.26 meters (174-9) in the discus to place seventh, while Josh Huisman finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 18.54 meters (60-10).
Michigan will split between a pair of meets next weekend, with the distance crew heading to the Wake Forest Invitational (April 16-17) and the rest of the team competing at the Big Red Classic (April 17-18).
