
Michigan to Head West to Take On Oregon, Washington

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team (7-9, 3-5 Big Ten) heads West for its final road trip of the regular season this weekend. The Wolverines face Oregon (13-5, 4-3 Big Ten) on Friday (April 3) at 3 p.m. PT inside the Student Tennis Center before taking on Washington (8-11, 2-5 Big Ten) at noon PT on Sunday (April 5) at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center.

• The Wolverines are 7-9 overall and are ninth in the Big Ten standings with five matches remaining before the Big Ten Tournament in Ojai, Calif.
• Freshman Max Dahlin heads into the weekend with one of the longest singles win streaks in the nation at 11 matches. Ranked No. 10 in the ITA singles rankings, Dahlin boasts a 13-1 dual-match record at No. 1 and is 22-3, including his fall season when he was named an All-American.
• Dahlin has a 10-2 record when playing ranked opponents, his best win coming against the No. 3-ranked player, Michael Zheng, in February. He is also 6-0 against Big Ten competition.
• Senior Bjorn Swenson is 6-3 at the No. 2 position and is 14-7 when factoring in fall play. Ranked No. 86 in singles, Swenson leads the Wolverines in career singles wins with 32.
• Seniors Mert Oral and Nicholas Steiglehner have been Michigan's consistent 3-4 players this season. Oral had a career-long seven-match win streak during the season, while Steiglehner's best was 11 consecutive victories in 2024.
• Dahlin and Swenson hit the doubles rankings at No. 16 thanks to a 7-1 mark from the fall season. This spring, it has been Dahlin and freshman Pierce Shaya with the strongest record (6-2). Michigan has had the most success at No. 1 doubles, going 7-3 this season at the position.
• Michigan is 2-0 all-time against Oregon and won the first conference match between the two squads last year, a 4-0 decision in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines also hold a 9-2 winning record against the Huskies and took last year's match 4-3.
• Oregon owns a 13-5 overall record, which includes a 10-0 mark when playing at home. In the Big Ten, the Ducks are 4-3, sitting in sixth place in the standings. Oregon has one ranked singles player in Vlad Breeze (108), and one ranked doubles pair of Cameron Burton and Pierre Mouesca (40th).
• Washington enters the weekend with an 8-11 overall record and is 2-5 in the Big Ten, sitting in 10th place in the standings. Last weekend, the Huskies split a pair of matches, winning at Nebraska before losing at Wisconsin. No player is ranked in singles or doubles.
