
Wolverines Dominant in Victory at Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team began its trip to the Pacific Northwest with a 4-1 win over Oregon on Friday (April 3) at the Student Tennis Center.
The Wolverines won the doubles point with Max Dahlin and Piece Shaya deciding the point with a 6-4 win over the No. 40-ranked pair of Matthew Burton and Pierre Mouesca. It marks the duo's highest-ranked win of the season, as it improves to 7-2.
Bjorn Swenson and Alex Cairo cruised to a 6-1 win over Vlad Breazu and Declan Galligan at No. 2 doubles in the first match to finish.
Dahlin extended his win streak in singles to 12 straight matches. The No. 10-ranked Wolverine went on a five-game run to take the first set 6-2 over No. 108 Breazu and dominated in the second set 6-1. Dahlin is now 13-2 in dual play and 23-3 overall this year.
Nicholas Steiglehner pushed the Wolverines ahead 3-0 with a victory at No. 4 singles. The senior won his second consecutive singles match with 6-3, 6-2 wins over Sam Olszakowski.
Oregon (13-6, 4-4 Big Ten) got on the board with Matthew Burton winning at No. 3 singles against Mert Oral.
With Shaya and Arnav Bhandari both heading into third sets, Michigan (8-9, 4-5 Big Ten) looked to Swenson at No. 2 singles to clinch. He won his first set 7-5 against Mouesca and went serve for serve in the second, sitting at 5-5 before he held serve and then broke to clinch the set and the match, 7-5.
Michigan returns to the courts on Sunday (April 5) when it takes on Washington at noon PT inside the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle.
