Notes
• Michigan will spend its annual spring break trip in the state of Virginia and has previously played against all four of its hosts over the 10-game swing -- Virginia, Liberty, James Madison and Virginia Tech -- but has never before played in the state.
• Michigan will face Bryant for the first time in program history.
• The Wolverines kicked off their spring break swing with a 3-2 record at the Party at Palmer Park Invitational last weekend (Feb. 27-March 1) in Charlottesville. Michigan batted .304 over the five-game tournament but improved to .316 in games against Villanova and Virginia on the final day. The pitching staff combined for a 2.57 earned-run average with 28 strikeouts and a .224 average against.
• U-M took a three-run lead into the seventh inning against No. 18 Virginia in the tournament finale and had retired seven of the last eight Cavalier batters while holding them scoreless since the first inning. UVA used a two-run single, a bases-loaded walk and an RBI single into shallow left to overtake the Wolverines. Michigan owns a 1-4 record against ranked opponents this season.
• Junior outfielder Jenissa Conway leads the nation with five triples already this season after hitting one for two runs in the fifth inning against Bucknell last Saturday (Feb. 28). Conway posted triples in back-to-back at-bats against No. 22 Arizona State (Feb. 22). She is just the eighth player in program history to achieve the feat and the second on the current roster. Junior outfielder Ella Stephenson recorded a pair of three-baggers against Nebraska in 2024 -- after a 26-year drought of achievement. Michigan's single-season triple record is 11.
• Sophomore outfielder Lauren Putz ranks ninth nationally with a 1.148 slugging percentage, ninth in total home runs (10), 14th in homers per game (.50) and 15th in RBI per game (1.50). Putz leads the Wolverines with a .463 batting average -- a 71-point improvement on her rookie year average when she ranked second with a .392 average.
• Senior second baseman Janelle Ilacqua boasts a .364 batting average, ranking third on the team, and owns 10 runs scored and four RBI from the No. 9 spot in the order. Her average is a 94-point increase on her previous career high (.270), which she recorded as a freshman. Ilacqua served primarily as a defensive specialist the last two seasons, combining for 30 total at-bats in 2024 and 2025.
