
Wolverines to Face No. 3 Texas in Elite Eight

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 2 seed and ninth-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (28-6) is in the Elite Eight for the second time in program history and will face top-seeded Texas (34-3), the No. 3-ranked team, with a spot in the Final Four on the line Monday evening (March 30) at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. The game is set for 6 p.m. CT and can be seen on ESPN.
Notes
• Michigan has advanced to the Elite Eight for the second time in program history after knocking off Louisville in the Sweet 16. Michigan has never advanced to a Final Four.
• Te'Yala Delfosse recorded her 16th double-figure scoring game last time out, going for 10 points and eight rebounds in Michigan's win over Louisville (March 28). She was +31 in 22 minutes of action in the contest. Michigan put up 18 points off the bench against the Cardinals, spearheaded by Delfosse. She has scored in double figures in 16 games this season.
• Michigan set new program standards for regular-season wins (24) and Big Ten wins (15) this season. U-M is now up to 28 wins, tied for the most in program history. Michigan won a program-record 28 games en route to the 2017 WNIT title. Michigan is also eight points away from setting a new single-season scoring record. U-M has 2,839 points this season, with the 2016-17 team setting the standard at 2,846.
• J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family head women's basketball coach Kim Barnes Arico is making her 13th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, with the first four berths coming at St. John's. Barnes Arico is 18-12 in the NCAA Tournament, with her teams winning at least one game in 12 of her 13 appearances. She is 13-8 as the Michigan head coach in the NCAA Tournament, making four Sweet 16s and two Elite Eights across her time at St. John's and Michigan. KBA is also the Michigan program leader with nine NCAA Tournament appearances as head coach, accounting for more than 60 percent of Michigan's berths.
• U-M is 7-5 against top-25 teams this season. U-M has wins over No. 18 Notre Dame, No. 25 Illinois, No. 13 Michigan State twice, No. 13 Ohio State, No. 14 Maryland and No. 13 Louisville. Michigan has fallen to just No. 1 UConn, No. 2 UCLA, No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 13 Iowa/No. 9 Iowa. Texas enters the contest ranked No. 3 in the Associated Press poll.
• Michigan is the second-highest scoring team in the conference, also ranking ninth nationally at 83.9 points per game. U-M is 25-0 when scoring at least 80 points after going for 92 points against NC State (March 22).
• Michigan has three players scoring in double figures in sophomores Olivia Olson (19.2 ppg), Syla Swords (14.8 ppg) and Mila Holloway (12.4 ppg).
