CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team placed fourth at the 2026 Big Ten Championships with a score of 196.800 on Saturday (March 21) at the State Farm Center.
No. 5 UCLA earned the championship title with a score of 198.100, while No. 11 Michigan State placed second with a score of 197.475, and #13 Minnesota rounded out the top three with a 196.900.
Michigan led after the first rotation with a 49.550 on floor exercise with four scores of 9.900 or better, but could not hold onto the lead as it finished fourth overall.
Graduate student Carly Bauman was named to the All-Championship team on the floor, where she scored a 9.950 to tie for second overall and earned a 9.925 on uneven bars to place sixth overall. Sophomore Sophia Diaz stuck her uneven bars landing to score a 9.925 and Jahzara Ranger and Ava Jordan stuck their vaults, with Jordan notching a 9.825 and Ranger anchoring with a 9.900. Peyton Davis tied a career-high 9.900 on the floor and Audrey Sanger stuck her uneven bars landing for the second straight week.
The Wolverines came out in the first rotation as they recorded a meet-leading 49.550 on the floor behind four scores of 9.900 or better. Bauman led Michigan with a 9.950, while Quincy Walters scored a 9.925 and Diaz and Davis scored 9.900s. U-M paced the field in the first rotation with UCLA in second, Michigan State in third, and Minnesota rounding out the pack.
Michigan stuck two of its vaults in the second rotation. Jordan went 9.825 and Ranger scored a team-best 9.900 in the anchor spot. However, UCLA took over the lead with its floor rotation, while MSU sat in second, the Wolverines in third, and Minnesota remained fourth.
U-M put together back-to-back high scores on the uneven bars with a 9.900 from Diaz and a 9.925 from Bauman; however, it carried a running score of 147.775 into the final rotation to sit in fourth overall as UCLA continued to lead the field.
The Wolverines were unable to make up the score differential on beam, despite Sophie Parenti leading off with a 9.850 to lead Michigan. Davis matched Parenti's score, and Bauman and Ranger recorded 9.825s as U-M finished fourth.
Michigan will learn its regional site Monday (March 23) during the NCAA Selection Show, which will be broadcast live at noon on ESPNU.
