
Five Wolverines Named to All-Big Ten Teams

ROSEMONT, Ill. --Â Five University of Michigan women's gymnasts -- Kayli Boozer, Carly Bauman, Sophia Diaz, Jahzara Ranger and Quincy Walters -- were named to All-Big Ten teams, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday (March 18).
Bauman and Ranger earned first-team honors, while Boozer, Diaz and Walters were named to the second team. Walters was also named to the All-Freshman Team and is Michigan's Sportsmanship Award honoree.
Bauman earned her fourth All-Big Ten nod, as she was a second-team honoree in 2023 and a first-team honoree the last three seasons. The West Des Moines, Iowa, native competed on three events for the Wolverines in her sixth season and took home 10 individual event titles, including two on uneven bars, two on balance beam and six on floor exercise. Bauman notched Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors twice this season to bring her career total to five, while recording 14 scores of 9.900 or better -- including seven of her last eight routines on the floor -- to close out the regular season. The graduate student was also named an AAI Award finalist.
Ranger notches first-team honors for the first time in her career after being named to the second team last season. The sophomore had a standout season, competing on vault, beam and floor and topping her previous career highs. Ranger scored a career-high 9.950 on floor twice and matched the score on beam, while scoring a career-high 9.925 on the vault in her sophomore season. She won six individual event titles and had nine scores of 9.900 or better.
Boozer notched her second career All-Big Ten honor as she was named to the second team for the second straight season. The Texarkana, Texas, native competed in the anchor spot on beam all season and also competed in the vault lineup for eight meets. Boozer kicked off the season with six straight beam scores of 9.900 or better and five straight titles. The junior specialist has recorded eight scores of 9.900 or better on beam this season and four 9.950s, which tie for a career high. Boozer also recorded a season-best 9.875 on the vault this year. Heading into the postseason, Boozer ranks 10th nationally on the beam.
Diaz earned her second career second team All-Big Ten honor, having earned the honor in her freshman season. The sophomore competed on vault, uneven bars and floor all season and took home one title each on vault and floor. Diaz recorded 10 scores of 9.900 or higher this season, including in the last five routines on floor. The Clarksville, Md., native opened the season with a career-high 9.925 on the uneven bars and has tied a career-best 9.925 on floor in the last three meets.
Walters earned a trio of awards in her first collegiate season, being named to the second team as well as the All-Freshman Team and was Michigan's Sportsmanship Award honoree after competing on both beam and floor. She earned event titles on beam and floor in her first collegiate meet and has scored a career-best 9.950 on both. Walters has recorded six scores of 9.900 or better, with three on beam and three on floor, while earning Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors on one occasion.
Michigan will compete at the Big Ten Championships on Saturday (March 21) at 5 p.m. CT at State Farm Arena in Champaign, Ill.
