The 2025 University of Michigan women's lacrosse team appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season and earned its highest seed in the Big Ten Tournament at No. 3. U-M finished 14th in IWLCA poll and ranked as high as No. 5 in head coach Hannah Nielsen's eighth season at the helm of the program.


Team Highlights
• Michigan made its fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and fifth in program history.
• The Wolverines ranked as high as No. 5 nationally, defeating five ranked opponents with its first win over a top-five opponent in then-No. 5 Johns Hopkins on April 13.
• The U-M defense finished the season ranked seventh nationally, allowing just 9.05 goals per game.
• Michigan earned the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, the highest seed in program history, and made the program's second semifinal appearance.
• The Wolverines scored 263 goals and had 128 assists, both program records.
• U-M also set a new program standard with 279 draw-control wins.




Individual Highlights
• Most recently selected to play in the Maybelline Womens Lacrosse League All-Star Game and a second team IWLCA All-American, Erin O'Grady repeated as the Big Ten Goalie of the Year, breaking the Michigan career wins record with 25. The Massapequa, N.Y., native is the third goalie in program history with more than 300 saves, ending her career with 351 to rank third all-time in Michigan annals. She ranked second nationally and led the Big Ten with a .534 save percentage. This season, O'Grady had 12 double-digit save efforts, including a career-best 14 at Colorado. She was a Tewaaraton Award nominee, a first-team All-Big Ten member and notched Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America second-team honors. O'Grady was an IWLCA All-Region selection, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and the IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week once each in 2025.
• Senior Jill Smith paced the Wolverine offense in her final season, breaking the Michigan career points record and eclipsing her standing single-season points record. She ended her Michigan career with IWLCA second team All-America honors. The Farmington Hills, Mich., native had a team-best 82 points (59 goals, 23 assists), breaking her previous single-season mark of 77 points. The attacker was the second Wolverine in program history to surpass 200 career points, ending her time in Ann Arbor as the Michigan career points leader with 245 and a 37-game goals and points streak, from Feb. 24, 2024, to May 11, 2025 -- the longest streak in program history. Smith also finished with 192 draw-control wins to rank second in program history. This season, Smith was also second on the team with 74 draw-control wins. She notched 18 multi-point games, 11 with hat tricks, and set the Big Ten Tournament and U-M single-game records with 10 points (eight goals, two assists) against USC. She was a Tewaaraton Award nominee, an IWLCA All-Region selection, a first-team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Tournament Team member, and notched Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America honorable mention citations.
• Junior Grace Callahan anchored a Michigan defense to earn her IWLCA third team All-America honors. She led the Wolverines with 24 caused turnovers and had 30 ground balls, which ranked second. She was an IWLCA All-Region selection, an All-Big Ten first-team honoree and was a third-team Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American.
• Senior Kaylee Dyer became the third player in program history to tally 200 career points, finishing her career with 201 after her two assists against Northwestern in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She broke the single-season assists record with her 34 helpers and ranks second all-time in Michigan history with 76 career assists. The Elkins Park, Pa., native ranked second on the squad with 78 total points and is second in Michigan single-season history. Dyer tallied 44 goals in addition to her 34 assists with 18 multi-point games, including eight (two goals, six assists) against USC in the Big Ten Tournament. The attacker was an IWLCA first team All-Region selection, on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, earned All-Big Ten second-team honors and received USA Lacrosse Magazine and Inside Lacrosse All-America citations.
• Graduate student Ava Class recorded the best season of her career, with 31 points (25 goals, six assists). She had a .644 shots-on-goal percentage and netted 10 of 17 free-position opportunities. The Hunt Valley, Md., native had nine multi-point games with a career-best seven (six goals, one assist) at Maryland in the regular season. Class was named All-Big Ten first team, IWLCA First Team All-Region and an Inside Lacrosse All-America honorable mention citation for her efforts in her final season.
• Senior Julia Schwabe is one of nine Michigan players to record 100 career points, totaling 131 in her four seasons -- including a career-best 53 points this season. The midfielder added 17 ground balls, eight caused turnovers and one draw control to her stat line. The Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., native earned IWLCA second team All-Region honors, All-Big Ten second-team honors and was a Big Ten Midfielder of the Week selection.
• Freshman Emma Burke was named All-Big Ten second team and to the all-freshman after leading the Michigan draw-control unit in her first season. The Glenview, Ill., native is the second Wolverine in program history to tally 100 career draw controls in a season with 135 as she broke the U-M single-season record. She also ranked 18th nationally with 7.50 draw-control wins per game. Burke set the U-M single-game draw-control record with 17 against Eastern Michigan and tallied five games with double-digit draw wins and 15 games with four or more draw control wins.
• Senior Maya Rutherford broke the Michigan career appearances and career starts record, playing in and starting every possible game in her four year career, which totaled 78 games. She finished her career with 53 ground balls and 38 caused turnovers.
