ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Two University of Michigan women's lacrosse players, Maddie Burns and Erin O'Grady, were selected to play in the inaugural Maybelline WLL All-Star Game at CPKC Stadium in Kansas City on July 4 as part of the PLL And WLL's 2025 Lexus All-Star Weekend.
Defender and 2024 graduate Burns and goalie and 2025 graduate O'Grady were selected by Boston Guard head coach Laurie DeLuca to play for Team North. Burns was selected 21st overall, and O'Grady was selected 35th overall.
Building on the successful debut of the WLL at the 2025 Maybelline Championship Series, the WLL All-Star Game will feature the league's first competition in the 10v10 format, similar to the full-field collegiate and international women's game, as well as the men's professional field format.
O'Grady repeated as the Big Ten Goalie of the Year, breaking the Michigan career wins record with 25. The Massapequa, N.Y., native was the third goalie in program history with more than 300 stops and ended her career with 351 saves to rank third all-time in Michigan annals. She ranked second nationally and led the Big Ten with a .534 save percentage. This season, O'Grady had 12 double-digit save efforts, while stopping a career-best 14 shots at Colorado. She was a Tewaaraton Award nominee, a first-team All-Big Ten member, and notched both Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America second-team honors. O'Grady was an IWLCA All-Region selection, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and the IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week once each in 2025.
Burns anchored the nation's top defense and started all 20 games in her final year. She played one season in the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse League before the league indefinitely suspended operations. The Philadelphia, Pa., native had a team-best 29 caused turnovers and 41 ground balls in her final season as a Wolverine, while ranking fourth on the team with 20 draw controls. Burns broke the U-M career ground-ball record with her 101st pick up against Northwestern as she closed out her career with 111 ground balls. Burns was the Big Ten Defender of the Year and earned Inside Lacrosse All-American honors and first-team all-region honors.
