
Wolverines Set to Open Postseason at B1G Indoor Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team will open the postseason at the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 28-March 1) in Indianapolis, Ind., at Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. Both days of the meet will be streamed live on B1G+.

• Wolverines to watch include: Trent McFarland and Miles Brown (800-meter run), Luke Venhuizen (5,000-meter run), John McNeil (high jump), Berachiah Ajala (triple jump), Eli Winter (weight throw), distance medley relay.
• The 800-meter run squad comes in at No. 5 in the latest USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings.
• Michigan finished eighth at the 2024 Big Ten Indoor Championships, earning five medals. The U-M distance medley relay squad (McFarland, Dubem Amene, Brown, Nick Foster) won silver in a time of 9:43.96, and U-M claimed four individual bronze medals, with two coming from Tom Brady in the 3,000- (7:57.85) and 5,000-meter (13:58.15) runs, along with Amene in the 400-meter dash (46.34 seconds) and Foster in the mile (4:06.22). The Maize and Blue ended the championships with 12 podium finishes. Amene, Brown, Foster, and McFarland were named All-Big Ten second Team.
• The Wolverines sat in eighth place after day one, with the DMR team and Brady's third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run pacing the team.
• Winter earned U-M four points in the weight throw with a fifth-place finish (20.61 meters/67 feet, 7.5 inches) while Venhuizen scored his first career point for the Wolverines with an eighth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (14:12.94).
• In the mile finals, the trio of Foster, McFarland (4:07.31) and Riley Flemington (4:09.10) combined for 12 points. Camden Law earned a podium finish in his debut season for U-M, finishing seventh in the 800-meter run (1:49.99).
