INDIANAPOLIS -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team opened the two-day Crossroads of America Invitational on Friday (Jan. 24).
Corey Royster set a personal best in the 200-meter dash, finishing 10th with a time of 21.58. The time is tied for No. 9 on the program performers list. Jack Juds finished 17th (21.92) and Jacob Koerner finished 19th (22.00). Juds' time was also a personal best.
The distance crew had a strong performance in the 3,000-meter, taking six of the top-10 finishes. Luke Venhuizen finished second (8:04.30), Peter Baracco finished third (8:04.79), Nathan Lopez finished fifth (8:05.66), Ian Hill finished seventh (8:07.52), Heath McAllister eighth (8:09.03), and Nolan Clark finished ninth (8:09.28). Venhuizen, Baracco, Hill, McAllister, and Clark all set personal bests.
In the weight throw, Eli Winter placed fifth with a mark of 19.88m (65-2.75) and Jake Steslicki finished seventh with a mark of 19.26m (63-2.25). John McNeil took third in the long jump with a season-best 7.36m (24-1.75).
The Wolverines will close the meet on Saturday (Jan. 25), with track events beginning at noon and field events starting at 1 p.m.
