ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (0-1) kicks off a five-game homestand on Friday (Nov. 8), hosting Lehigh (1-0) at Crisler Center. The game is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan returns to Crisler Center to begin a five-game homestand. U-M will not play away from Ann Arbor until the Thanksgiving holiday.
• U-M is coming off a 68-62 loss to No. 1 South Carolina in the Hall of Fame Series in Las Vegas (Nov. 4). Michigan held a one-point lead at the half and got within two points with 22 seconds remaining, but could not get closer. Syla Swords led the way with 27 points and 12 rebounds, with Jordan Hobbs turning in 19 points.
• Michigan started three freshmen in the season opener, with Mila Holloway and Olivia Olson joining Swords in the starting lineup.
• Jordan Hobbs hit a career-best five three-pointers in the season opener, becoming the 24th different Wolverine in program history to hit at least five in a single contest. It also marked her 24th time in double figures during her career.
• Swords burst onto the scene in Michigan's season opener, recording a 27-point, 12-rebound double-double in her collegiate debut. It is the most points scored by a Michigan freshman since Naz Hillmon turned in 27 points at Michigan State on Feb. 24, 2019. It was the most points by a freshman in their Michigan debut in the NCAA era and the second-most ever (Peg Harte -- 28 points vs. Western Michigan, Nov. 27, 1981).
• Lehigh is coming off an 83-59 season-opening win against LIU, a team U-M will play on Nov. 20 at Crisler Center.
• Lehigh is one of two first-time opponents for the Maize and Blue this year, with Michigan set to play Long Beach State for the first time as well. The Wolverines could also face first-time foe Davidson at the Fort Myers Tip-Off over Thanksgiving, depending on the first-round results.
• In addition to the three freshmen who started, transfers Ally VanTimmeren, Yulia Grabovskaia and Brooke Q. Daniels each made their Michigan debut against South Carolina.
