ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field program will open its home slate with the Wolverine Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 13) at the U-M Indoor Track Building. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10Â a.m., while the running events will begin at 11 a.m. Admission to the event is free.
Notes
• Three Wolverines already have seen the track this season, with Tom Brady, Nick Foster and Henry Johnson all competing at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener hosted by Boston University on Dec. 2.
• Brady kicked off the season strong, setting the program record in the 5,000 meter run (13:33.83). The grad student broke his own record of 13:36.61 which he set at last season's Tiger Paw Invitational.
• U-M finished sixth at last year's Big Ten Indoor Championships, with Dubem Amene winning the 400-meter dash title and Oli Raimond, Amene, Cole Johnson, and Foster claiming the distance medley relay crown.
• Foster qualified for the NCAA Championships as an individual and as part of the DMR team. Cole Johnson, Amene, Henry Johnson and Arjun Jha rounded out the DMR team that finished ninth and picked up second team All-America honors. Foster finished ninth in the mile and earned another second team-All American nod.
• Amene, Raimond, Cole Johnson, and Jha all return for the 2024 season. Michael Hancock (distance) and Anthony Hancock (distance) also will return to the lineup.
• Michigan welcomed grad transfers Dante Bassham (sprints) and Owen MacKenzie (distance), former U-M men's soccer player Christian Pulselli (sprints) in the offseason, as well as 13 freshmen.
