
Michigan Finishes Eighth in Rainy Conditions at XC-23 Pre-Nationals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team competed against teams from across the country at the XC-23 Pre-Nationals at Panorama Farms on Saturday (Oct. 14), finishing eighth with a total of 326 points and grabbing a spot in the top third of all participating schools.
For the fourth straight race, Kayla Windemuller paced the pack for the Maize and Blue, securing a top-20 result and a 6K time of 20:23.1. Windemuller started at 55th through the first 1,000 meters but steadily gained ground, picking up 36 spots to finish 19th overall.
Like Windemuller, Samantha Saenz improved her position throughout Saturday's meet, starting in 65th before finishing 35 places higher in 30th with a mark of 20:42.0.
Samantha Hastie posted a time of 21:11.1 in her second 6K race of 2023 to finish 64th overall. Hannah Pricco and Rylee Tolson rounded out the scoring for the Wolverines, registering marks of 21:39.1 and 21:40.2, respectively.
Three Wolverines took part in the orange race with Katelynne Hart leading the way with a time of 21:23.3, a season best.
U-M will return to action on Friday (Oct. 20) at 4 p.m. when it travels to Dexter, Mich., for the EMU Fall Classic at the Husdon Mills Metropark.
