
Gordon Leads U-M in Seventh-Place Finish at NCAA Regionals

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team earned a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday (Nov. 14) at the Angel Mounds State Historic Site.
Notre Dame (22), Wisconsin (95) and Toledo (104) were the top three finishers.
Sophomore Anjali Hocker Singh led U-M through the first two kilometers, sitting in 18th place, while Penelopea Gordon checked in at No. 41 and Gabbie Michael followed close behind in 45th.
At the halfway point, Hocker Singh remained 18th, while Gordon slipped to 43rd and Michael to 53rd. Sophomore Natalie VanOtteren moved up seven spots to 57th, with Jadyn Zdanavage and Hannah Pricco also gaining ground to 58th and 60th, respectively.
With just under one kilometer to go, Hocker Singh sat in 29th while Gordon climbed to 42nd. Pricco and Zdanavage were running together in 53rd and 54th.
Gordon surged ahead to finish as Michigan's top runner, placing 33rd with a time of 20:51.48. Hocker Singh was next for the Wolverines in 46th (21:07.62), followed by Zdanavage in 52nd and Pricco in 55th.
The Wolverines will learn their NCAA Championships fate during the NCAA Selection Show, which will stream live on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 5 p.m. on NCAA.com. If selected, Michigan will compete in Columbia, Mo., for the NCAA Championships.
