ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team earned its eighth shutout and 12th straight win in a 4-0 decision over Purdue University on Sunday (April 9) at the Varsity Tennis Center. The No. 6-ranked Wolverines sit atop the Big Ten standings at 5-0.
For the 15th time this season, Michigan (15-2) took the doubles point and then rattled off three straight singles wins with Nino Ehrenschneider clinching the win at No. 4. Ehrenschneider, ranked No. 102 nationally in singles, took down Tomasz Dudek 6-0, 6-2 to improve to 3-0 in B1G and 7-1 this season.
Nick Beaty continued his unbeaten streak, stringing together 11 straight singles wins. He is 11-1 on the season and 4-0 in the league after a 6-2, 6-2 win over Michael Wozniak at No. 5.
No. 25 Ondrej Styler grabbed the first singles victory, handing Athell Bennett a 6-1, 6-2 loss at No. 1 singles. He is now 11-2 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
Styler and Gavin Young, ranked No. 34, defeated Gabriele Brancatelli/Bennet 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. While Will Cooksey/Beaty teamed up for the second time this season and earned a 6-3 win at No. 3.
Michigan looks to keep the streak going tomorrow (April 10) when it hosts Indiana at noon.
