ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team fell, 2-0, to Indiana on Sunday afternoon (March 28) at U-M Soccer Stadium.
The Wolverines (5-3-2, 5-3-2 Big Ten) took nine shots, five of which were on goal, with Nicki Hernandez putting three on frame. Goalkeeper Hillary Beall made four saves.
Indiana took a 2-0 lead in the first half, capitalizing on two balls in the box. The Wolverines were unable to find a goal as Sammi Woods and Hernandez both had good chances on net.
Michigan came out of the halftime break and took back-to-back shots that tested Indiana keeper Bethany Kopel early, but neither found the back of the net. Hernandez earned a penalty kick opportunity in the 57th minute, but Kopel made the save to her right to maintain the 2-0 Hoosiers lead.
The Wolverines did not have another shot the remainder of the game, and Indiana went on to victory.
Michigan will be back in action Saturday (April 3) at 1 p.m. against Rutgers at U-M Soccer Stadium in the final game of the regular season. Prior to the game, the Wolverines will recognize their senior class.
