ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team ended the regular season with a 1-1 double overtime draw against Rutgers on Saturday (April 3) at U-M Soccer Stadium.

Senior Nicki Hernandez scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season, playing 100 minutes, while goalkeeper Hillary Beall made seven saves.

The Wolverines had three big chances in the first half, hitting the post twice and having one shot blocked as the match remained scoreless midway through the first half. Rutgers put three shots on goal with Beall making a trio of important saves, including jumping up to save one at the top of the net, sending the game scoreless into the halftime break.

U-M continued to control the ball in its offensive end as Hernandez received a pass outside of the 18-yard box in the 60th minute. The Rutgers defender stripped the ball, but Hernandez quickly recovered and took it back before turning and ripping the shot into the bottom-left corner of the net from 12-yards out giving U-M a 1-0 advantage.

With two minutes left, Beall came up with a diving save, but it led to a Rutgers corner kick that it capitalized on, heading the ball into the back of the net to force overtime.

Neither team found the golden goal over the 20 extra minutes, and both settled for a point toward the Big Ten standings.

Michigan will next take part in Big Ten Regional Weekend, Thursday through Sunday (April 8-11). U-M's opponent, site and match time are to be announced.
