COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan rowing team will continue its 2021 spring season with a one-day slate of Saturday (March 27) races against rival No. 6 Ohio State at Griggs Reservoir. More than 50 Wolverines will make the trip south to compete in a double session of racing.
This marks the second event of the season for the Wolverines. The format will include morning (beginning at 9 a.m.) and afternoon (1:10 p.m.) sessions and will mimic a championship event, beginning with novice races and varsity fours and finishing with the varsity eights.
U-M will race a full Big Ten Championships lineup with seven boats in total: two varsity eights, three varsity fours and two novice eights.

Things to Know
• Two weeks after opening the season in Oak Ridge, Tenn., the Wolverines are back on the water this weekend.
• U-M currently sits at No. 7 in the CRCA/USRowing Coaches' Poll, the second-best ranking of any Big Ten program. The Buckeyes are ranked sixth.
• Overall, the Big Ten has an impressive seven teams ranked in the top 20 nationally, including OSU, U-M, No. 10 Indiana, No. 12 Rutgers, No. 14 Wisconsin, No. 15 Iowa and No. 16 Minnesota.
• Last time on the water, the Wolverines' 1V8 collected wins against SMU, Clemson, Louisville and Notre Dame.
• Six athletes hit milestones U-M's season-opener. Freshman Delaney Evans rowed for the first time as a Wolverine. Sophomores Lauren Benitez, Elena Collier-Hezel, Annaka Draaisma, Ember Larson and Ariana Shokoohi made their first varsity appearances.
• With another eight true freshmen on the roster, and seven true sophomores who never got the chance to row for the block M last spring, there is still room for more debuts this weekend.
• U-M also is traveling its novice boats for the first time this spring, leading to more Wolverines competing under the block M for the first time.
