The 15th-ranked University of Michigan women's golf team closes its fall season heading back to North Carolina. This time, the Wolverines will head to the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington from Friday through Sunday (Oct. 29-31), for UNC-Wilmington's Landfall Tradition. The three-day, 54-hole event features an 18-team field with 13 ranked among the nation's top 50 in the latest Golfstat rankings. The course is expected to be set up for a par 72 and 6,166 yards.

The Landfall Tradition features a top-tier 18-team field including No. 23 Central Florida, No. 29 Clemson, No. 17 Florida State, No. 43 Furman, No. 32 Illinois, Maryland, No. 15 Michigan, Michigan State, No. 39 North Carolina, N.C. State, Penn State, No. 30 Purdue, No. 8 South Carolina, No. 16 Texas, UNC-Wilmington, No. 4 Virginia, No. 24 Virginia Tech and No. 9 Wake Forest

Michigan's Landfall Tradition Lineup
Michigan will have a five-member starting lineup at the Landfall Tradition. Junior Hailey Borja heads up U-M's starters, with senior Ashley Lau, sophomore Monet Chun, senior Sophia Trombetta and junior Mikaela Schulz filling out the rest of the lineup.
Michigan's History at the Landfall Tradition
• U-M will make its eighth trip to the Landfall Tradition.
• Michigan recorded its best finish, tying for third in 2008, and have three top-five finishes in the event.
• Former All-Big Ten golfer Brianna Broderick holds U-M's top finish at the Country Club of Landfall, tying for third in 2006 at 222 (72-76-74). Michigan had a pair of top-10 individuals after Ali Stinson tied for eighth at 226 (77-76-73).
• After the 2020 event was canceled due to COVID-19, the Wolverines last played in 2019, tying for 13th, led by Ashley Kim's tie for 17th at 218 (71-75-72).
• Below is U-M's team breakdowns at the Landfall Tradition:
2005: 316-321-315 = 952 (11th of 12)
2006: 300-315-302 = 917 (5th of 12)
2007: 306-318-321 = 945 (12th of 12)

Wolverine Bites
• The 15th-ranked Wolverines has not shied away from some of the nation's top programs. Heading to Wilmington, N.C., U-M will play its third straight event with at least 10 teams ranked among the nation's top 50. The Windy City Classic featured nine of 15 teams in the top 25); the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational boasted 12 of 18 teams in the top 50, wnhile the Landfall Tradition will include 13 of the 18 teams ranked in the top 50.
• After posting seven top-five finishes in its 10 events prior to the start of this season,, Michigan started the 2021-22 schedule capturing the team title at the Wolverine Invitational (Sept. 13-14). The Wolverines followed with a pair of seventh-place finishes at the Windy City Invitational (Oct. 4-5) and the Ruth's Chris tar Heel Invitational (Oct. 15-17).
• In U-M's last 15 regular-season events over the span of three seasons, the Wolverines have recorded nine top-five finishes with two team titles and one runner-up finish.
• Michigan has earned two Big Ten Golfer of the Week accolades this season. Hailey Borja was given the honor after she led the Wolverines with a career-best 210 (-6) and tied for third at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, while Mikaela Schulz played her way to the conference award after winning the Wolverine Invitational with a 210 (-3) tally.
• Setting the pace early, six of seven U-M golfers have posted an even- or sub-par score this season. After three straight at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite, including a career-best-tying 68 (-4), Hailey Borja has a team-best four sub-par tallies, while Ashley Lau and Mikaela Schulz each have two -- one of which was a career-low-tying 68 (-3) at the Wolverine Invite. So far, U-M has nine total red numbers and 10 rounds of even par.
• With her team-best four sub-par rounds, Hailey Borja has taken over the team lead for scoring with a 72.11 per-round average. She is closely followed by Ashley Lau's 72.78 average and Monet Chun's 73.44. As a team, U-M has posted a 291.78 team average with four sub-par team rounds, including a team-low 280 (-4) in the first round of the season at the Wolverine Invite. U-M has five sub-290 team tallies.
• After posting a career-low 210 (-3) tally, Mikaela Schulz won the second medalist honor of her career, tying with Iowa State's Liyana Durisic at the Wolverine Invitational. Overall, Schulz's win marked the 33rd individual title by a Wolverine and the sixth under U-M head coach Jan Dowling.
• With the entire starting five finishing in the top-20 individually, U-M won the Wolverine Invitational with a U-M Golf Course women's team record 851 (-1) -- the first sub-par tally at U-M's home course. The 851 tally not only was the second-lowest team total in program history, it crushed the prior U-M Golf Course record by 18 shots -- 869 by USC at the 2007 NCAA Central Regional (May 10-12).
• Michigan has been without the services of graduate student Ashley Kim, who has been out with a thumb injury. Taking advantage of the NCAA rule to allow student-athletes an extra year of eligibility due to the coronavirus pandemic, Kim was expected to provide steady experience and leadership for the 2021-22 campaign. She has started 34 of her 35 career events and carries a 74.62 career scoring average.
