Sung, Michigan Ready for NCAA Regional at U-M Golf Course

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's golf team will host the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional from Monday through Wednesday, May 11-13, at the U-M Golf Course. Senior Lauren Sung will compete as an individual in the postseason event, which features 12 NCAA-selected teams and six individuals battling in a 54-hole format with 18 holes played each day. The course is set up as a par 71 and will play at 6,260 yards.
Notes
• Michigan's regional lineup features senior Sung, who will make her 37th career start and first appearance as an individual in NCAA postseason competition.
• Sung will compete as one of six individuals invited to the Ann Arbor Regional. She is joined by Trinity Beth (Georgia), Isabella McCauley (Minnesota), Mariana Mesones (Minnesota), Alexis Vakasiuola (Grand Canyon) and Yanah Rolston (IU Indianapolis).
• The Ann Arbor Regional features 12 teams (in seeding order): No. 1 USC, No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Central Florida, No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 6 Northwestern, No. 7 Kansas, No. 8 Texas Tech, No. 9 UNLV, No. 10 Columbia, No. 11 Quinnipiac and No. 12 Oakland.
• Michigan has been represented in NCAA Regionals 19 times, including 13 team bids. Since the NCAA Regional format expanded in 2004, U-M has now had six individuals compete in postseason regional play, highlighted by Laura Olin's tie for 17th at the 2004 Central Regional. Last season, Mara Janess appeared in the 2025 regional in Columbus, Ohio. Sung continues the tradition as U-M's sixth individual competitor.
• Sung returns to U-M Golf Course after one of the best tournaments of her career at the season-opening Wolverine Invitational. Playing on her home course, Sung finished runner-up in the 81-player field with a career-best 209 (-4), posting back-to-back rounds of 68 (-3) to earn the first top-five finish of her career. After an early double bogey in the opening round, she played her final 52 holes at six-under par with 11 birdies and just five bogeys.
• Sung has been a key veteran for the Wolverines throughout the 2025-26 season, leading the team in six of 10 tournaments. Most recently, she paced U-M at the Big Ten Championships, tying for 42nd with a 54-hole total of 224 (74-76-74) at Oakmont Country Club.
• Carrying a career-low 73.38 stroke average, Sung owns a team-best six sub-par rounds, including back-to-back season-low 68s (-3) in rounds two and three of the Wolverine Invitational. She has also recorded two sub-par 54-hole totals, highlighted by a career-low 209 (-4) at the Wolverine Invitational -- four strokes better than her previous best.
• Michigan played a nine-event regular season, posting a season-best tie for third at the Wolverine Invitational (Sept. 7-8). At the Big Ten Championships, U-M tied for 14th. The Wolverines averaged a 295.69 team scoring average, including two sub-par team rounds and a season-low 857 (-7) 54-hole total at the Illini Women's Invitational (Oct. 6-7).
