Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Gal Groumi continued his impressive start to the 2021-21 campaign at the Minnesota Invitational last weekend, winning the 200-yard butterfly (1:40.90), and taking part in three relays that all hit NCAA 'A' cuts. He swam the butterfly portion of the 200-yard Medley Relay (20.21) and 400-yard Medley Relay (45.26), and turned in a 1:32.22 as the final leg of the 800-yard Freestyle Relay. Groumi also had top-three finishes in the 200-yard IM (third; 1:41.99) and 100-yard Butterfly (second; 45.16). In total, the freshman had three times good four fourth-fastest in the NCAA this season (100 Fly, 200 Fly and 200 IM). » Big Ten Release
Gal Groumi (Nov. 10)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Gal Groumi had another standout weekend of action for the No. 6-ranked Michigan men, helping the Wolverines to three wins to improve their overall record to 4-0. The Hod Hasharon, Israel, native touched the wall in the seventh-fastest 200-yard bytterfly time in the NCAA this season at the Purdue Triple Dual, finishing in 1:44.31. The freshman also turned in an NCAA 'B' standard in the 100 fly, finishing second with a time of 46.50. At the Ian Miskelley Memorial Meet on Saturday, Groumi took first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.92. » Big Ten Release
Will Chan, Cameron Gammage, Gal Groumi (Oct. 11)
Big Ten Swimmer of the Week -- Senior Will Chan was one of a handful of Wolverines with strong opening weekends, helping Michigan take first place at the SMU Classic. The senior won the 100-yard breaststroke with a meet record and NCAA 'B' cut time of 52.14, breaking a 7-year-old SMU Classic mark. He finished with NCAA 'B' cut times in the 50-yard freestyle (19.93) and 200-yard breaststroke (1:56.83). The Cleveland Heights, Ohio, native also was crucial to two relay wins as U-M took the 400 medley relay (3:07.26, split of 51.70) and 200 medley relay (1:24.91, split of 23.47). The 400 medley time set a new meet record and was an NCAA 'B' cut, while the 200 medley was a pool record.
Big Ten Diver of the Week -- Freshman Cameron Gammage won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives in his collegiate debut for the Wolverines, earning 18 points to help Michigan top Oakland. The freshman registered a 423.60 in the 3-meter to top all competitors by more than 100 points, and followed that with a 334.28 to win the 1-meter.

The freshman took second in the 100-yard butterfly (46.08) and 200 fly (1:43.01), earning NCAA 'B' cuts in both. He also helped the Wolverines to a win in the 400-yard medley relay (3:07.26, split of 45.85) and 200 medley relay (1:24.91, split of 20.40). The 400 medley time set a new meet record and was an NCAA 'B' cut, while the 200 medley was a pool record.
